New York offers various attractions that highlight everything that the city can offer from culture to architecture, finance, and art. Although these attractions are a must see for anyone intending to visit New York it doesn’t capture the entirety of what the city has to offer. Here’s a quick list of the lesser known places to visit when you happen to drop by New York.

  • The Piece of the Berlin Wall in Manhattan

The painted pieces of the Berlin wall can be seen in various places in New York (5 in total) the most notable of which is situated in 53rd street near Madison Avenue.

  • The GhostBusters Fire Station

For that pop culture fix the Hook and Ladder 8 fire station found in Tribeca was the fire station used as the headquarters of the Ghostbusters in the cult classic.

Midnight in Paris

This is a romantic comedy set in Paris about a family that goes there because of business, and two young people who are engaged to be married in the fall have experiences there that change their lives. It’s about a young man’s great love for a city, Paris, and the illusion people have that a life different from theirs would be much better. Though the movie starts off in New York, we follow the lead, Holly to the beautiful countryside of Ireland. We watch in awe and envy as she experiences traditional Irish life while taking in the luscious sites.

Sometimes, it takes dire circumstances to achieve our goals especially visiting dream destinations. It’s not likely we can just leave at the drop of a hat so we watch as Edward and Carter travel all around the world checking off their bucket list.

The Holiday

In Nancy Meyers’ The Holiday, a romantic comedy from the director of Something’s Gotta Give and What Women Want, two women trade homes only to find that a change of address can change their lives. Iris (Winslet) is in love with a man who is about to marry another woman. Across the globe, Amanda (Diaz), realizes the man she lives with has been unfaithful. Two women who have never met and live 6000 miles apart, find themselves in the exact same place. They meet online at a home exchange website and impulsively switch homes for the holiday. Have you ever wanted trade places with someone? Well, today you can trade houses at least. In The Holiday, Iris and Amanda switch it up and live in each other’s houses not realizing they’ll also be living a bit of the other’s life.

Lost in Translation

Bob Harris (Bill Murray) and Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson) are two Americans in Tokyo. Bob is a movie star in town to shoot a whiskey commercial, while Charlotte is a young woman tagging along with her workaholic photographer husband (Giovanni Ribisi). Unable to sleep, Bob and Charlotte cross paths one night in the luxury hotel bar. This chance meeting soon becomes a surprising friendship. Charlotte and Bob venture through Tokyo, having often hilarious encounters with its citizens, and ultimately discover a new belief in life’s possibilities.

The Newest Theme Park Attractions You Don’t Want to Miss

More and more theme park attractions are popping up but we’ve gathered the newest attractions you most absolutely don’t want to miss. From apocalyptic horrors to superheroes, these attractions are definitely worth a visit.

1. The Walking Dead: Battle for Survival (Coming soon)

The post-apocalyptic thriller, The Walking Dead will become a reality when Universal Studios unveils The Walking Dead: Battle for Survival.

An interactive 3D ride, this attraction will feature animatronic figures, physical sets, digital projections and special effects. The maze like experience is one you shouldn’t miss. No date has been announced yet as to its opening but this for sure will be a fun, thrilling, scary and exciting adventure all in one.

2. Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Opening June 17)

Star Wars fanatics will enjoy an elaborate fireworks show exhibiting famous scenes and themes from the seven Star Wars movies.

Combining fireworks and projection mapping, Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular will celebrate famous scenes and musical themes from the seven Star Wars films.

The nighttime spectacular will start on June 17 and will launch one of the most fantastic pyrotechnical shows including special effects and video projections of the twin suns of Tatooine, a field of battle droids, the trench of the Death Star, Starkiller Base, other Star Wars destinations and a massive lightsaber.

3. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey at Universal Studios Hollywood (Open to the public)

Harry Potter has been sharing his magical world at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Florida and at Universal Studios Japan for a few years now but now they’ve headed to Hollywood. Open as of April 7, fans have been experiencing the mysteries of Hogwarts Castle with thrilling rides and attractions.

Word so far is even the queue is exciting with oil paintings springing to life and other magical moments. Part of the ride involves Dumbledore’s office, the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom, the Gryffindor™ common room, the Room of Requirement and more.

4. Skull Island: Reign of Kong at Universal Orlando (Coming Soon)

The masterful and giant Kong reigns Skull Island, his island, his home, his kingdom. Similar to the movies the attraction focuses on Kong’s dominance and your struggle to fight through frightening beasts and predators.

The ride combines 3D screens, physical sets and gigantic animatronic figures. The attraction will have you joining a research team that brings you deeper and deeper into the jungle.

5. Iron Man (coming soon)

One of the Avengers is getting his own theme park attraction. Iron man, aka Tony Stark will be introducing the Stark Expo to Hong Kong Disneyland. Guests will be exploring the latest innovations from Stark Industries as they journey through the streets of Hong Kong while they battle it out with the evil forces of Hydra with no other than Iron Man himself.
